What happens at my first advising session?

Every student has their own personal timeline, budget and goals. I will work with you to make the most of the time we have together.

Many students like to begin with an orientation and introduction session in which we review the student history and goals to assess application readiness. This is also a great time for questions about the premed and med school application process. It’s common for another adult family member to join us for this first session.

That said, you may be on a pressing deadline for something in particular: choosing your school list, writing your personal statement or activities essays, submitting your secondaries, or preparing for an interview. If what’s right for you is jumping right into the work, that’s what we’ll do. For these sessions, it’s best that I work solely with the student.
